My wife and I recently traveled to a place called “Heaven on Earth” a.k.a. El Nido. Since this is our 2nd Wedding Anniversary, I wanted to stay in a hotel/inn that’s at least has an own restroom, air-condition, clean sheets, kind staffs and budget friendly. All of that I found in RicGem Place.

A month before our trip, I was looking for a place that suits our requirements and luckily with a little research and time to read forums, I stumbled upon RicGem Place as recommended by a forumer who recently went to El Nido and has all praises for the hotel. I then made a research, found some pics, checked if it suits our requirements and then bam! I immediately booked them without hesitation through Agoda. I booked two nights with them for a standard room with a/c for a total of PHP 2550.01. That’s PHP 1,250.11 per night. Not a bad deal.

So let’s talk about the place first. They are not fronting the beach but the location is very accessible to all your needs. It’s just a 5 minutes walk from their place to the beach. And for me, you don’t need to get a beach front hotel in El Nido as the beach in the town proper is not good for swimming because that’s where they dock their boats.

They have a nice lobby where you can eat, chat with fellow travelers or just simply take a sit and daydream. Breakfast is not included but they have free coffee, milo and tea. I remembered asking them for tea one time, but they don’t have any. What the owner (Mr. Ric) did was ask his helper to buy one for me in the nearest store. That’s really nice of him to do that. Also, when I got stung by a sea urchin, I asked them if they have a bowl or tupperwear where I can put hot water and dip my hands into. They quickly gave me one as they sensed I needed it badly. That’s good service my friend. You don’t say No to your customers. You take the extra mile. Now, they will be rewarded a positive review from me for all the netizens to read.

They also have free wifi as posted in their lobby but we didn’t bother connecting as HSDPA data connection for Smart is strong in their area. I just don’t know about Globe, but someone posted in Tripadvisor that they are located beside a Globe Tower, so for sure mobile data is blazingly fast there.

If you haven’t booked your tours, they also offer Island tours and Inland tours to Nacpan beach. Just ask anyone of them stationed in the lobby and I’m sure they will accommodate you. They also offer Van transfer services from El Nido to PPC.

Now for the room. What can I say, it has everything we wished for. It has a private restroom, shower and aircondition. The sheets were clean and white and the smell was nice. The interiors has this vintage, rustic feeling that we love. Actually, the moment we got inside our room, we laid down a bit and hugged the pillows. Our nights were quiet and thankfully there were no rude guests. It was very relaxing, just what we expected.

Sorry for the pics as we shot this before we check out of the hotel so the sheets were a little wrinkled already 😀
