My 2015 Year-End Travel Review

My 2015 Year-End Travel Review

2015 is such a great traveling year for us. This is not just because we marked off some of the places in our travel goals, but because we started this blog! Blogging our travels is a great way to share our experiences, help others and ourselves on improving the way we travel.

We admit that we haven’t been to a lot of places due to my day job (just 12 vacation leaves a year) but I am satisfied to what we’ve accomplished this year. Every big thing starts small, so this blog is one of those small things that I hope to get big in time. We are not in a rush to accomplish everything as we have to balance all the things that are important in our lives like family, investments and travel. My ultimate goal someday is to have a steady passive income enough to sustain us to travel long.

I am very happy that we started this blog earlier because just like investing in equities, you have to start early to maximize your gains. There are still many future adventures just waiting to happen that I’m glad to take notes of and blog it. For me, pictures and videos aren’t enough to remember those moments so blogging is one way of preserving those.

I’m also very very happy that we maximized our travel fund on all of our travels. We didn’t go overboard and just focused on using our travel fund. No debts or pulling out some money on our non-travel savings.

Where we’ve been

This year we traveled more of the Philippines than ever before in our lives and we are looking forward to more of it next year. We started and ended the year chillin’ in Tagaytay. El Nido and the rest of Palawan is amazing, Banaue is breath taking, Sagada is simply beautiful, Baler is sweeter with family, Laguna and Batangas is like our second home but the highlight of this year is when we finally went to one of our dream destinations, South Korea!  We love the country very much that we already booked our tickets for our winter getaway next year!

Where we’re going

We also booked tickets for Dumaguete, Boracay and Davao next year so yeah we’re traveling more around the Philippines just like what we’ve done this year.

Other than South Korea, we’re also eyeing one more country to go to. Just a short and inexpensive (as usual) travel as we are focused on one of our investments so we have to maximize our travel fund. We’re eyeing either one of these countries:

Taiwan

Singapore/Malaysia combo

Cambodia/Thailand (again) combo

Myanmar

We also love to go to Japan but it depends on our budget and my remaining leaves as we wanted to go to Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo.

We’re also hoping to go to Brazil. It’s a long shot, but I hope we can pull it off.

What to expect on this blog for year 2016?

So what to expect on this blog next year? I’m thinking of the following:

  • Put up a section where I interview ordinary people with extra ordinary travel experiences. Just let me know if you are interested.
  • A gallery section where I can post pictures of places we’ve been to that won’t get its own blog post or article.
  • More guest postings and maybe a collaboration.
  • Maybe get a new wordpress theme. I just need more time to do it though.
  • Continue blogging our travels and create inspiring articles. One of my articles titled “10 Tips On Travelling While Building Your Future In Your 30s” posted in Two Monkeys Travel Group was a hit. Check it here!

So that’s it! I’m really looking forward to 2016 and we really hope all things go well and maybe even exceed our expectations! We hope your 2016 will be fruitful to you as well and be thankful for what 2015 has given and taught us. Happy New Year to all!
