Camp Holiday Resort Samal Island; Review

When in Davao City, one thing you can do is travel to the nearby Island of Samal for that much needed relaxation. There are several resorts to choose from depending on your budget and how much comfort and luxury you want to have. My wife and I are budget travellers but there are times that we wanted to stay in a nice resort or hotel just as long as it fits our budget. And because we tagged our family along (my parents and younger brother), I want them to unwind and have a great relaxing time as well.

After researching for a resort to stay at, we found Camp Holiday the perfect stay for us. It has nice rooms, pools, views and most of all, fits our budget. Here is my review of Camp Holiday that I hope can help you in looking for an accommodation in Samal Island.

Camp Holiday is conveniently located beside Samal Ferry Wharf. To go there from Davao city, ride a taxi or by bus known as the ‘Island City Express’ to Sasa Wharf then ride the RoRo barge going to Samal Wharf and walk from there. It’s just around 10 minutes on-board the RoRo.

They have two pools, one of which is an infinity pool exclusive for checked-in guests. Beside it is the beachfront with a view of Davao City where guests can enjoy rafting in a rubber boat, swim or soak under the sun for a tan. Don’t expect too much on their beach though and I wouldn’t really advise you to swim there as barges comes and go, so the water may not be too good.

Kids will surely have fun in Camp Holiday because besides the pools, they also have a playground and the green grassy field is big enough for kids to run around and play.

For adults, they can enjoy their leisurely time in the pavilion area where one can buy beer, eat or play billiards!

The Room

We booked a Family Suite Room good for 5 persons with no breakfast for P3,500 per night. We expected an ordinary family room but we were surprised on how elegant and complete the room is! It has two air-conditioned rooms, one has a King size bed (with LED TV) and the other one with two twin beds.

It also has a living room complete with inverter type air-con, personal fridge, sofa, LED TV and a veranda with a view of the whole resort.

We love the room so much! In fact, my parents stayed in the room for about 60% of our time in the resort. I’m happy they enjoyed and had that much needed rest!

We had a lovely time in Camp Holiday. It was so serene, relaxing and most important of all, the time we spent on bonding was priceless. Not to mention that the room is reasonably priced considering its features and amenities. The staffs were nice too, they are all smiles and always greet you when you pass by.  I would recommend this resort to anyone.
