Airbnb room in Singapore for P885 per night!
Singapore is known to be an expensive country to travel to. Being a first world country and Southeast Asia’s financial and commerce hub, almost everything here will burn your pocket.
One of the first things a budget traveler would check in a place is if there are cheap and decent accommodations. Thanks to technology, it is now a breeze to look for a stay that fits your budget and criteria of a place. One of those recent technologies is Airbnb!
We were only going to stay for a night and were just looking for a place to crash in. At first, I was browsing the net for the right hostel to stay in Singapore but I still find them a little expensive for our budget. Good thing I found a room in Airbnb for a very cheap price in SG standards! P885 (P958 total with fees) for one night for two! That’s a cool deal to me. Check out my review of this Airbnb listing!
The owner of the room is Poh Heng Anthony and they are listed in Airbnb here. If you are new to Airbnb, kindly register by clicking the image below.
Okay, let me tell you first that the place is a little away from downtown Singapore. It is located in Yishun Ave., around 40 minutes to an hour from downtown by train and bus. Exact address is: Blk 349, Yishun Ave 11, Singapore. To go there, take the MRT and alight at Yishun station. Go to Yishun Bus interchange and look for bus 806. Alight at the 3rd bus stop, look for block 349 and take lift B to level 12.
For us, the location is good since we toured the city from early morning till the afternoon then went to the accommodation for rest, dinner and sleep. Also, Yishun is nearer Kranji station where you can take the buses going to Larkin Terminal in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Their room is quite simple. As mentioned earlier, we just wanted a place to sleep at for one night so we are not expecting a lot from it. Heck, we’re even ok if it’s just a fan room which it is as long as it is clean and orderly.
The room has a Queen sized bed, towels, a standing fan and a ceiling fan, TV and free fast wifi! They also have what they call an essential box where you can get an item there for free if you really need it, like toothpaste, toothbrush, tissue, alcohol, etc.
It doesn’t have air-conditioning but there are 2 fans to cool you up. You can also open the windows and let the wind enter the room but since we went during summer, there’s little wind that time.
The toilet is clean and the water’s strong. You can also get drinking water from their fridge which is a major plus since bottled water in Singapore is expensive.
At first I thought Yishun is an empty place but I was dead wrong. Just in front of the residential building is Yishun park where you can take a leisurely stroll or jogging.
A little walk from there and you can find Kim San Leng Food centre. Hawker stalls here offer amazing food and lots of choices as well!
There are also bakeries, convenience/grocery stores and a playground as well.
All in all, it was a decent stay. Nothing fancy, just good for an overnight’s sleep.
Book this if you:
- Have a strict budget (i.e. you’re a cheapskate like me)
- Don’t mind staying in a fan room
- Don’t mind the location (40 mins to an hour from downtown)
- Are going to Malaysia by bus the day after
And about the hosts, they are kind people, willing to help with your needs and they will explain all the rules beforehand. And oh, special mention to their cute cat, Ohana!
