Located in Black Hills, South Dakota, Mount Rushmore is one of the place in America that symbolizes hope and freedom. One of the main features of Mount Rushmore park are the faces of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. Campground #1 Pactola Campground

Pactola Campground is 21 miles away from Mount Rushmore. You can follow the route of Highway 16 until you reach the north of Highway 385. The campground has 83 sites, and they are all nestled near the bigger reservoir and the trees.

At its center of the lake, there are rock outcroppings, which is a perfect spot where you can jump off the cliff if you are a brave one. Pactola Campground features shower facilities, running water, camp store, and boat launch. There is also a site for handicapped-accessible, so you don’t have to worry about anything at all.

About 15 miles from Mount Rushmore, Sheridan Lake Complex is another campground. You can get there by traveling on Highway 16 until it reaches Highway 385, which is deep in Black Hills National Forest.

The campground has 129 campsites, hiking trails, fishing piers, boat dock, and marina. Sheridan Lake Complex is perfect for families and friends who are into swimming since there is a long beach in the area. There are also amenities at the camp store for your daily needs, so you no longer have to go out of the campground just to purchase the things that you need.

Campground #3 Happy Holiday Resort

Happy Holiday Resort is located 16 miles north of Mount Rushmore. The campground features motel rooms, cabins, tent camping sites, and an RV park. There are also a beer bar, laundry facilities, game room, convenience store, restrooms, playground, and a heated swimming pool.

Another good thing about this campground is that it is less than 5 minutes away from Bear Country USA, Flying T-Chuckwagon Supper & Show, and Reptile Gardens. There are also shopping, fishing, bicycle touring, golfing, and hiking available in the area. Of course, they also have a free WI-FI feature so you can surely update everyone about your great time at Happy Holiday Resort.

Campground #4 Rushmore Shadows

Rushmore Shadows is located about 12.5 miles which are north of Rushmore. This campground offers different RV sites with a 30 to 50 AMP electric, sewer, and water. There are cabin rentals and tent camping sites if you prefer tents instead. The tent sites have wooded areas, driveways, and firepits to make your stay comfortable.

Another good thing about Rushmore Shadows is that there are a clubhouse and a playground, where the kids can enjoy playing, while the clubhouse is where you can meet travelers like yourself. Just like the previous campground listed above, they also have a free WI-FI which means that you can stay connected any time of the day.

Campground #5 TeePee Campground and RV Park

TeePee Campground and RV Park is located 17 miles away from Mount Rushmore. It is known as one of the most pet-friendly campgrounds in the area, just put in mind to use leashes on them to avoid them from wandering around on their own.

The campground features tent sites, and some have electric hookups. There are also sleeping cabins and RV sites if you prefer staying in those two places. Some of the amenities in the campground are restrooms with showers, convenience store, and laundry services. There is also a playground to keep your kids busy and a free WI-Fi for your internet connection needs.
