La Virginia Hotel and Resort – Themed Resort in Batangas
When you’re getting older, some of your choices in life changes too. Me, my wife and long-time friends were planning a quick weekend getaway and were having a hard time on choosing a place to stay. First, it was the beaches of Calatagan. Sounds nice but a little bit far from the metro and we’re looking for somewhere less than a couple of hours drive. Then to an unknown beach in Bagac, Bataan. Really cool but the rainy season has begun and we don’t want to sleep in a wet tent. So we decided to stay at the famous Shercon resort in Batangas but unforuntately, rooms are full on our date. My friend then told me, there is one resort near Shercon that has an amazing view of Taal ‘if we are into that sh*t’ – he says. I said ‘yes, we are into that sh*t’. La Virginia Hotel and Resort it is.
Just a two-hour drive from the metro, La Virginia Hotel and Resort is one of the largest privately-owned resort in Batangas nestled in an 8 hectare land with a breath-taking view of Taal lake. There are several swimming pools located in different locations within the resort where you can do some pool-hopping except in some places where it is exclusive to that area. It’s also like a theme park with statues of different personalities and characters like Marvel, animals, dinosaurs, fairy-tale, saints, Buddha, James Dean, etc. Your kids would definitely love it.
The view of Taal Lake here is awesome especially during sunset where the lake reflects the color of the sun. Unfortunately, we don’t have pics because we’re too busy cooking our food but we appreciated that moment. La Virginia is located at the east side of Taal Lake so the view is different from that in Tagaytay but equally stunning as well.
La Virginia Hotel and Resort has lots of it. The pools are scattered in different areas of the resort and some with particular themes. Note though that some of the pools are of exclusive use to the area it’s located but they are a few. I think we saw just two of it.
We love that it’s not crowded that weekend. I guess it’s off-peak and many of the guests are Batangueños and are just on a day-trip. Chill mode on. This is what we, Titos like.
Themes, Attractions and Activities
The resort has a variety of themes from marvel characters, animals, mythological creatures and celebrities. It’s a huge theme park with pools and slides all together. The very first thing we saw here is the castle and we were like “Wow, a castle!” Lol. Ahh… it sure feels good to be a kid again.
If you’re itching for adventures, don’t worry they got you covered. They have a zipline (which goes straight to Taal volcano’s crater – just kidding), archery range and wall climbing. We didn’t try any of it because as Titos and Tita, we just want to eat and drink.
We booked our room in their Hotel for P4000 (facing Taal) for one night good for 6pax with free breakfast for two.
How to Book? Contact them here and if you are in Manila, in this number – (02) 732-7994. They will require 50% deposit to be deposited to their savings account at Metrobank. Check-in Time is 2PM and check-out is 12 noon. You will be able to check-in early if the room is vacant.
Unfortunately, I don’t have pics of our room because we immediately lied down the bed and put our beers and liquors in the fridge. Didn’t have time to bother with pictures… let’s get drunk fast.
But here’s my take on the room… It’s ok but they need to fix the sliding door of the toilet. It’s broken and can’t be locked. Because of this, we need to know if someone’s taking a dump or shower or else one of us will be seen in his birthday suit.
The shower room’s tiles have seen better days. It’s due for renovation. The water pressure is also kinda weak. Then there’s blackout in the middle of the night and they got no back-up power generator to light things up. Good thing the air-conditioning is good and the lights only went out for around 30 minutes I guess.
The bed and pillows are comfortable but the blanket is thin. If you are thin-skinned, you need to lower the air-conditioning’s temperature. The nice thing about the room is it’s complete with TV, fridge and a veranda with an overlooking view of Taal lake.
For connectivity, the WIFI is good but it goes off sometimes. I assume it’ll be much slower if there are many guests checked-in.
Besides the Hotel, they offer accommodations that caters to big groups and families and some of them are themed too. You can even stay at their castle! Click here to see all the rooms.
Restaurant and store
There’s a restaurant inside the resort and they offer staple Filipino dishes with affordable prices. This is where you can redeem your free breakfast.
There’s also a sari-sari and convenience store for your emergency needs.
Resort’s entrance fee is P250 for adults and P150 for the kids. Even if you booked a room, you still need to pay for the entrance fee.
