Privato Hotel – Pocket Friendly Staycation

Privato Hotel – Pocket Friendly Staycation

When you have no plans for the long weekends, sometimes you feel there’s a need to do something to do nothing. Sounds confusing? It’s simple. It’s just a sudden need to be out of your house and stay somewhere nice and do practically nothing. That’s what we did last long weekend.

We didn’t go somewhere far. Just here in Manila. Like I said, out of our house – no long drives, relax in a comfy King Sized bed and do nothing. In this lazy event of our lives, we chose to stay at Privato Hotel in Shaw Blvd, Pasig City.

Why did we choose Privato Hotel? Having read both positive and negative reviews prior to our stay, in a consumer’s stand-point, we simply chose it because:

1) It’s affordable

2) Rooms looks clean and presentable.

3) There are more positive reviews than negative

4) It’s near Kapitolyo and Capitol Commons

Those were our reasons for choosing the place but what do we think of it after our stay? Here is our honest review. Please note that this is not a sponsored post.

The Hotel is located along Shaw Boulevard in Pasig City – just a cartwheel away from the elegant Capitol Commons and Food Hub Kapitolyo. This area is known for the horrendous traffic during rush hours but since it’s a long weekend, walking and driving around the area is a breeze.

Room and Price

We booked an Executive King that’s good for two with a large comfy king sized bed and soft fluffy pillows. It has the usuals like LED Cable TV, fridge, hair dryer, vault, large cabinet, etc. Air-conditioning is very good as it easily cools up the room. There are two complimentary bottled waters, tea and coffee. An electric kettle is also provided.

We chose a non-smoking room in a high floor (20th floor). Great thing about this is of course, the view of Manila at night. We experienced no disturbance and noise outside so that’s a plus too.

The bathroom is clean. No stains, dirt or hairs stuck in the drain. They provide shampoo, soap, slippers and towels which I think, they need to replace because it’s not brightly white anymore. We were also hoping they provide a disposable hair comb because we left ours but that’s ok 😀

Privato Hotel Toilet

The shower room is a little small and the faucet literally broke off the wall while I was washing. I thought I broke it but it’s really broken before we used it. I put it back in the wall and voila, just like a Lego piece, it’s connected to the water pipe again! This definitely needs repair.

The WiFi speed is a little bit inconsistent. On the first day, it was good but the morning after it slowed down. I’m guessing this is because many guests are using it that time.

I booked it in Agoda for P2,161 for one night inclusive of taxes and fees. Not bad for its price. I think this is one of their main strengths. They offer a reasonable price for a decent hotel stay.

Swimming Pool – The pool is shallow which is good for kids. I think it’s just around 2 feet. We didn’t bother to swim. Watched Game of Thrones instead.

Gym – They have a gym with nice equipment but didn’t also bother to check it out. Told you we were here to get lazy.

Restaurants – They offer buffet breakfast for P350 per person which we didn’t avail. I heard Piazza Privato is good but we opted for a cheaper hole in the wall Italian resto in Kapitolyo by the name of Pomodoro Pizza for dinner. Maybe next time we’ll try.

We dined for dessert and drinks at Verona Roofdeck bar to relax and view Manila at night from the 23rd floor of the building. It was peacefully quiet but I think they should mop the floor more often as there are dirty spots in the corners. One more thing, the cigarette butts in the ash trays should be thrown in the trash whenever there are new guests using the table.

Having said that, they must always maintain the cleanliness of the elevators too. We can see hand markings in the elevator door and dirt in the carpet – evidence that it is not regularly cleaned.

Staffs are polite especially the front desk receptionists. They explained all the details with no rush and they answer the phone courteously about your inquiries.

Only thing that ticked us off a bit was the parking boy attendant at the front of the Hotel. We were about to enter the parking entrance but I think he’s so busy with something (phone maybe) that he didn’t see us and guide us (there was obstruction in the entrance).

Other than that, service was great.

Overall Rating

For its price, I’d say this is a bang-for-the-buck stay. We know there are some hotels in Manila with a price way beyond 4k per night and yet doesn’t seem to meet our expectations. In Privato Hotel, you don’t have to expect a lot but pretty sure it gives you what you need and more.
